What does the term "God" mean to me?

Writing about God is kinda weird. But that's what comes to my mind the most. What or Who is God? Who created God? Where did he create this infinity of universe???

People portray God as a man sitting up in heaven (on clouds) looking at everything down here. But how can you even think of God as human? What about the time when dinosaurs existed? Was God a dinosaur then? Or has evolution stopped at being human? Very unlikely. Some people don't even believe in the concept of evolution. Because the idea that God doesn't exist is rather scary because he stands as a symbol of hope to the man who has lost it all. Symbol of "Whatever happens is for the good". And this is why people believe in God. Because it gives them hope.

Science does not prove that God doesn't exist. Even if Science comes to the core of formation of Universe, it would only prove the existence of God. For example, the Pope who was murdered in Dan Brown's novel Angels & Demons, believed that by the proof of Science that anti-matter exists, Science is proving that the almighty created the two things, Matter and Anti-Matter. Because there has to be an origin of the two. And that origin is God.

I portray God as something beyond human imagination. Something way above what we can think of. All these Gods we worship are merely fragments of imagination of highly gifted authors to me. I am not an atheist. I believe in God. God exists. After all, who created everything if not God? That's the definition of God, right? Creator of the Universe. I just don't believe the way everybody does. Who knows? If Harry Potter had been conceived of thousands of years ago, we would have all been chanting "Expelliarmus" instead of "Om". God and this universe is something we can never understand.

But what is the structure (shape) of God? Who created everything? I guess I would never know....

  1. Correction: False hope.
    Really.
And nobody created nothing. t'was just some molecules and a blast gone wrong that universe happened. Why is it so hard for people to believe that?

  2. @ Above, I believe you are refering to 'The Big Bang'. Its certainly not molecules and blast, but still can you explain me where did THOSE MOLECULES came from? :) Let the scientists think they're still finding a core answer.

  3. Yes Ravit.. exactly my point.. Ricky, I don't believe God will help me if i pray.. i may get hope and mental strength but he (it) is not gonna do anything.. But the secret key of origin of this vast space called universe lies in the hands of God.

  5. @RaSh-
Hmm.. well what can i say, then... Maybe the scientists are all wrong about this big bang theory. And of course i can't explain the existence of molecules at that time... maybe they just happened to be there... i know it is quite hard to believe but.. still..

    @Abhijit
Oi! u are making a huge mistake there.
U say u know he ain't helping you and stuff then tell me, oh Mighty Abhijit, how do u even get the mental strength? What i'm saying is, u know he is not gonna help, yet u pray and still u get the strength...which hardly makes any sense to me.
P.S.- u guys do know this conversation will get us nowhere, don't you? i mean we are not gonna come to a final conclusion. Ever.
    Ricky.

  6. It's a figure of speech dude. It means people who pray may get strength mentally but God is not gonna do anything according to me.

  7. I believe a much more important question is WHY? and not WHO! That is what goes through my head every time I see such posts

  8. @cognocsis:yes it's true this discussion is same as chicken and egg.
@ricky:you are polarising the whole thing.in typical argumentation then, rapists, murderers, etc. are all driven by god then.
@everyone:many things were considered divine before they became scientific.so you cannot deny darvin's theory.
i don't want to sound parental or anything, but quoting from the gita, krishna pervades everything,he is the divine, the ultimate, the infinite and we all have an immortal soul which is a part of him.

  9. As I have said in the post, I believe the Gods we worship are mere fragments of imagination of highly gifted authors. It's all about what you believe in.
But, thank you so much for your comments Morrnie. Keep visiting. :)

  10. Hmmmmm....... As i see it, i was taught that the gods are actually the mere fragments of imagination created by not only authors but saints etc too to make us do things that we normally wont. For example we concentrate while taking the name of god, we meditate but if there had been no god, we wouldn have done that. Yes, that definitely gives mental strength and hope in times of darkness. And the thing that created matter as we see it is nature. Its the ultimate force, the ultimate power. I think 'nature' is what abhijit means.

  11. today's scenario of clashing religions is direct result man's creative imagination! even if had buried a hero-villain scripture couple of millennia ago, that hero would have been todays Mr.God, and then there would be sect who would back the villain, and there you go, you have brilliant beginning to a cold war which will last a couple of millennia more...
